You may have noticed that we've been pretty quiet on social media lately, and it is for good reason. Just like many of the couples we've worked with over the years, our first few years of married life have been marked by a lot of change. In early 2018, we moved from Raleigh to Winston-Salem and bought our first house. We spent much of 2018 exploring our new community, fixing up our new home, and racing back to Raleigh nearly every weekend for weddings and events. As we've settled in a new part of the state, we've found ourselves at a crossroads. Do we double down and establish business ties in our new community? Commute back and forth every weekend to Raleigh? After many long discussions, we've decided that the right decision for us in this season in our lives is to step away from wedding planning.
Ten years ago, I (Whitney) began working in the wedding industry and three years ago, Alex joined me in launching this wonderful little business. It is always bittersweet to close out a chapter but we are filled with excitement for the future and for our next adventures.
To our assistants @k_stevenz and @hales_yas, you two are absolute rockstars...like the real MVPs. To all of the vendors and venues we've worked with over the years, we still have to pinch ourselves that we've been able to participate in such a special community. To our fall/winter 2018 couples, thank you for seriously having some of the most heartfelt, awesome weddings to date. Most of all, to each and every couple that trusted us to be a part of your important life moments, THANK YOU. We love you and we're forever grateful for your part in our story. It’s gray and a little cooler out today with just a little tiny (probably short-lived) hint of Autumn in the air. This spring weather we’re (finally) getting has us craving a far-flung adventure! With a jam-packed day, though, we’ll have to settle for reminiscing over @prettyinthepines’ adventure-themed bridal shower. Oh, take us away! 🗺✈️🌎 | Photo by @oliviasuriano
That Friday feeling 🙌
What's it like to get started as a Lily and Oak couple?! Take a look at our video (🙈) to learn more about how we prepare you for your big day! Video credit goes to the amazing @6ftamber
We're heading to #boonenc for a little ski trip tomorrow and it has us thinking back to Erica and Dillon's beautiful Appalachian wedding. While we doubt it will be this green at this time of year, we've got our fingers crossed for an equally amazing sunset 🤞| Venue and Catering: @crestwoodnc | Cake: @uggamuggabakery | Photography: @allisonvrhovac | Floral: @fallonsflowers
Wow! It's been two whole years since we launched this little business of ours! We are so thankful for the relationships we've built in the North Carolina wedding community and especially for the couples who have entrusted us to be a part of their wedding day. From all of us at Lily & Oak, thank you for an amazing two years full of memories, goofy moments and many, many Boomerang videos.
What a year! We can't wait to shower more deserving couples with love in 2018! #2017bestnine
Less than two weeks until Christmas!! Who else is woefully behind on their Christmas shopping list? It can't just be us, can it? | bride: @prettyinthepines | photographer: @oliviasuriano | venue: @mimshouse
